The Praise
Then God said to Noah, “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.” So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another. Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. (Genesis 8:15-20)
A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24)
O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure. (Isaiah 25:1)
Exalt the Lord our God. Worship at his footstool! Holy is he! (Psalm 99:5)
A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24)

Can you imagine it? Being stuck in the Ark for a year must have felt so challenging – probably even hopeless at times. Was there an end in sight? We have been in lockdown for less time than that, but we know how Noah felt! The moment when the soles of Noah’s feet finally stepped back onto dry ground must have been quite an emotionally charged moment. A surge of adoration - an enormous heave of relief as he realised that God had finally brought him through to the end of his great trial.
To consider all that God has saved us from, and all that he promises to call us into, is like throwing petrol onto a flame. It stirs the fire of worship that lies within the heart of any Christian. Redemption from the sins of our past. Light conquering our former darkness. Our hearts made whole. We have got a long to sing about! There really is no one or nothing in all creation that deserves our worship like Jesus Christ. In a few hours on the cross, he achieved for us what we could never have achieved for ourselves, even through an eternity in hell. Jesus has given us a right-standing before the holy God. How incredible is that?!
This week you may face challenges. This week may turn out quite differently from how you had envisioned it. But if your life has been established on the Rock of Ages – that is Jesus – then you truly have something to sing about.

1)How often do you read the Bible in order to find holes in it, instead of using it to feed yourself with the truths of who the Holy God really is?
2)Try listing the attributes of God’s nature (his kindness, his goodness, his strength, etc). Why not use those attributes right now to fuel a moment of sung worship.

Father God, I thank you that today I can join my own song with Noah, with the multitudes in heaven and with the chorus that rings out from your Church across the world. Thank you, Lord, that there is nothing and nobody who compares with you and that today, you welcome my adoration! Thank you that, even when I’m not sure what to say or where to start, you still delight in my worship. Please put a new song in my mouth today that gives you the praise that you alone deserve. Amen.
